(Book) The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect

A very thought-provoking novel. It will no doubt affect the way you think of the future in some way. If you have the discipline to read books then read at least part of this, if not all of it.

----
Lawrence had ordained that Prime Intellect could not, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. But he had not realized how much harm his super-intelligent creation could perceive, or what kind of action might be necessary to prevent it.

Caroline has been pulled from her deathbed into a brave new immortal Paradise where she can have anything she wants, except the sense that her life has meaning.

Now these two souls are headed for a confrontation which will force them to weigh matters of life and death before a machine that can remake -- or destroy -- the entire Universe.

Acid Euphoria

Saturday night was the most intense thing that ever happened to me....
It was 5:00 AM, and the sunrise was taking place.

As I walked past the house --just across the street-- from where I was staying with a friend, I heard music playing. Familiar music. Music that was calling my name, beckoning me inside.
The door to the house was open. I walked in.

No sooner did I notice the radical audio and visual effects that were taking place that my jaw dropped and an intense rush of euphoria sent charges of energy through every sense that was then part of me.

"holy shit, holy shit, holy shit"

There was a sheet hanging from the wall that had a projector beaming on it, there were kaleidoscopic rainbow colors flowing up and down the bedsheet. It looked very much like this:

Echoing through the air was waves of intense electronic music which I would categorize as a blend combination of acid house, acid techno, "hard dance", and psytrance. Even though electronic music has been my thing for a decade, my mind couldn't categorize the music at the time. All I knew was that it was truly awe-inspiring.

Every bass kick of the hard techno slammed against me relentlessly with undeniable force. My mind became lost in every crevice of the musical rhythm. Each sound effect and tune was in harmony with every part of my being. I became unaware of my own existence, flooded with euphoric waves of pure love and energy.

The living room had about a dozen people in it. I felt the life force of every one of them, radiating with a fiery aura, as this was truly a holy place to be at. I felt that each one of these people had no evil within them. Each light and object in the room had a lifeforce of it's own, oozing and warping in three-dimensions as if they were letting me know that they was part of this gathering as well.

I was unable to speak for the first fifteen minutes or so during this event. I had been immediately thrown into a state of primal frenzy upon walking into the sanctuary.

I met somebody here who is older and much wiser than I am. I guess you could say was a teacher of sorts. Very few people that I know of in this country have this level of insight. We had very deep conversations. He is probably the smartest person I have ever met. He taught us all many things by simply being there and setting an example, and taught us many more things with his words of wisdom. There is one thing in particular that I feel has made a tremendous difference in my life and I feel is the key to the liberation of my inner anger and frustration. He said that there are no social rules. If there are no social rules then you have nothing to be angry about. I noticed a profound and lasting difference in my behavior immediately upon understanding this.

From the time I walked in until the time I left the next night was the most intense and liberating experiences ive ever had in my entire life. During the last stretch of my stay there my euphoria kept growing and growing as I realized that this happened to me for a reason and that I really believed that I experienced events that were put forth by higher powers in this universe. As the last song played, my eyes started to shed many tears very quickly. A flood of emotion overpowered me with greater intensity that it had when I first walked in.

Give me a reason to fight all the passions I hide
Give me a motive to crush all my demons inside
Find me a man who explains me the meaning of life
Send me an angel to end my destructional strife

See - what I see
Feel - what I feel
Dream - what I dream
Scream - what I scream

I wanna see you when you fly - when you fly
I wanna meet you when you fly
I wanna feel you when you fly - and you will fly
Wanna see you - wanne meet you - wanna feel you when
you fly

Swiss purple ladies are flirting with butterfly queens
Bright yellow sunshine is mixing with sweet nicotine
Floating on velvet, we drift and we virtualize
Visions of Heaven observed through kaleidoscope eyes

See - what I see
Feel - what I feel
Dream - what I dream
Scream - what I scream

I wanna see you when you fly - when you fly
I wanna meet you when you fly
I wanna feel you when you fly - and you will fly
Wanna see you - wanne meet you - wanna feel you when
you fly

Perhaps history repeats itself?

Absorb the contents of the video and ponder the similarities between the current times and the prohibition era.

Seven mistakes with a selected piece of sloppy propaganda and "drug education"

I normally try to remain unpolitical when I am trying to provide an entertaining setting such as this, but I wanted to take a break for a minute and educate you on some of the misinformation that is responsible for much of the closed-mindedness that we see in the world today.

From http://www.rememberingadam.org:
---
Remembering ADAM Incorporated has been changing lives and bringing hope to communities since 1998. Through prevention education programs, Remembering ADAM carries out its mission to increase awareness of the destructive outcomes of substance abuse.
---

The person who created this website is basically going on a crusade against all drugs due to the fact that a loved one (Adam) died of a heroin overdose. I sympathize with anybody who loses a loved one due to an overdose. However, I must disagree with the reaction that was put forth in response. If your brother was killed by a man from China, does this mean that it is right to hate all Chinese people?

Now with this point aside, I will show you what the real problem is here. Documents and writings have been created by companies such as these, in order to "inform" the general public about what a drug is and what it will do. Now I love being educated about things, as long as the one who is doing the teaching is not BIASED, and is not INCORRECT. Education needs to be for the purpose of learning, NOT to further an agenda. If you want to be educated on a drug, I recommend going to http://www.erowid.org for all your unbiased information.

Now here is the article from RememberingAdam that comes into question. By the way, there are no references or sources cited in this article. Big red flag. Oh wait, on a second look, you can see in very small print that this article was "Provided by the Pennsylvania office of Attorney General". Well here is the smoking gun that the government is feeding the masses crap in order to maintain the status quo.

http://www.rememberingadam.org/drug_info/LSD.pdf

Claim 1: The chief ingredients in LSD amplify the users senses by up to 1000 times.

Correction: Where in the hell did they get the number 1000 from? There is absolutely no scientific data that suggests that you can measure how many "times" the senses can be amplified. Oh, perhaps if you asked a high-school freshman what LSD was, that is a good indication of what they might tell you.

Claim 2: Recently, chemists or "cooks" have developed LSD recipes that eliminate the use of strychnine as a cutting agent.

Correction: Strychnine has never been part of any "recipe". The government wants you to think that you are taking rat poison in order to scare you from taking this. Why does my government have to blatantly lie to the people? I thought this was America.

Source: Taken from http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/lsd/lsd_myth5.shtml
"The observation of strychnine as being present in any street drug, as a by-product, or a contaminant, or an impurity has never been documented. It is a natural plant product, as are the ergots which are used in the synthesis of LSD. But they come from totally unrelated plants; there has never been a report of strychnine and an ergot alkaloid co-existing in a single species. So if the two materials are together in a drug sample, it could only be by the hand of man. I have personally looked a large number of illicit street offerings and have never detected the presence of strychnine. The few times that I have indeed found it present, have been in legal exhibits where it usually occurred in admixture with brucine (also from the plant Strychnos nux-vomica) in criminal cases involving attempted or successful poisoning.

Claim 3: The distributor can place individual drops directly on the user's eye or on the user's tongue

Correction: Are you ****ing kidding me? Nobody is going to want somebody to drop liquid acid onto your eye. The chemicals that are in that stuff will burn the hell out of your eye, putting you into a bad mood, and then when the trip starts you are going to be in for a world of hurt.
-Source-

Claim 4: LSD can be found at gyms, nightclubs, "RAVE" parties and clubs.

Correction: Has anyone actually ever believed that they could go down to the local workout shop and find some LSD? Seriously, now.

Claim 5: Methods of Use -- LSD can be absorbed in any part of the skin.

Correction: While this is true, the efficiency of doing such is low and it would be a waste of money. This makes this claim quite misleading, as I would not call skin absorption a method of use.
Edit: Okay, I just realized that there are people out there that do massive doses of this stuff by absorbing crystal LSD through their skin (thumb). Not very common though. Articles like these don't really make the distinction between the ritualized "thumbprinting" and the 16-year-old kid who wants to get high.

Claim 6: Street Prices -- "Sheets" (100 dosage units) of paper LSD sell for $80 to $400; "books" (1000 dosage units) sell for $800 to $6000

Correction: I am not going to speculate on what the actual prices are, but logic tells me that if $4 for a unit is the maximum at 100 units, then the maximum for 1000 should be EQUAL or LESSER than $4 a unit. Why is it a maximum of $6 for a unit at 1000?

Claim 7: Coma and death are major side effects of LSD.

Correction: You would need to take many thousands of doses to have a chance of this happening, and even still, death is rare. However, the government doesn't have a problem with leaving this little piece of information out. They would like you to believe that it is a deadly poison that does everything negative and nothing positive except give you heightened senses.

In conclusion, these are the types of documents that are used to "teach" our children right from wrong. I am making an effort to teach you that THIS is wrong, and I am giving you facts to back this up. You make the call.

Bitjam Podcast

Bitjam Podcast has been one of my favorite sources of music for the last year or so. The audience is mostly hackers, but even if you are not a hacker the music is still free and pretty unique. Many of the music is 8-bit and created on old hardware such as Commodore 64, Amiga, and Atari ST. There are over 70 podcasts available for download at the time of this writing, roughly one hour of music each.

Rez HD

Rez HD Logo

Rez HD Screenshot 1

Rez HD Screenshot 2

Rez HD is a video game released for the Xbox 360 (arcade). An earlier version simply titled "Rez" was released in the U.S. in 2002, while Rez HD was released for the 360 arcade in 2008. I got this for the 360 arcade. The gameplay isn't exactly spectacular, but there is a mode where you can play it without any chance of losing --light-show, anyone?

Here is the wikipedia text:

Rez is a rail shooter in which the player takes control of an onscreen avatar traveling along a predetermined path through the computer network. The player cannot affect his or her movement in any way (except rotating). The player targets foes by holding a "lock-on" button while moving an aiming reticule over up to 8 enemies. Once the "lock-on" button is released, the avatar fires shots that home in on each target. Failure to hit an enemy or projectile in time may cause a collision, which reduces the player's current evolution level by one and changes the avatar's form. The game is over if the avatar is hit while at its lowest possible level. At higher evolution levels, the avatar appears as a humanoid figure, while it appears as a simple sphere at the lowest level.

Some enemies drop power-up items when destroyed. Two different items enhance the player's avatar by increasing his/her "evolution bar" by one and three points respectively. Another item enables the player to trigger an "Overdrive", which releases a continuous shower of shots at all enemies on the screen for a short period of time. In some game modes, score bonus items also appear periodically.

The game consists of five main areas. The first four are divided into ten sub-sections and conclude with a boss battle. The final area contains a larger number of sections and a boss rush, in which the player must fight variations of the bosses from the first four areas. The player then goes on to the network's core to restart Eden in a final boss battle.

The boss for each area features a variable difficulty scale, depending on the player's performance leading up to that point. According to Sega, this system was employed to make the game more accessible to casual players, while also making it more challenging for experienced players, thus potentially increasing its replay value.[7] In addition, completing all five levels unlocks alternate gameplay modes, color schemes and secret areas.

Unlike most games, Rez contains almost no sound effects or spoken dialogue. Instead, the game is set to trance music, which plays in the background and gradually evolves as the player moves among sections. The music is enhanced by musical effects (such as trills and drums) generated by the player's actions, enemies and surroundings. Player actions are usually locked to the rhythm of the music, such that shots and hits against enemies occur exactly on each beat (as opposed to occurring in real time). Graphical elements such as the polygons that make up the player's avatar, as well as background elements, also "beat" in time with the music. In reference to these coordinated effects, Sega focused its marketing of Rez primarily on the game's qualities of "synesthesia", the association of different senses and stimuli with one another.

Dune California Desert Parties, 1997

I wonder if it is possible in practice to still have parties like this exist? My gut tells me no. I really wish there was. Raves were still like this back when I first wanted to go to them when I was a kid. However, by the time I actually did go to them, there was less acid, more meth, worse (in my opinion) music, and the people that go in recent years are much younger (15-18) and not so full of love.

Cyberia

http://www.rushkoff.com/downloadables/cyberiabook/

Cyberia is a book written in 1994 by Douglas Rushkoff. There is an online version available for free. This is a must-read for anybody who is into the futurist revolution of the early 90's, computer hacking, underground raves, virtual reality, or psychedelic society. Even if you are not, I still consider this book a real eye-opener.
